Target has toys on Clearance!!

I am amazed at the clearance toy items we picked up at Target between yesterday and today!  Jakob and I went to Target for a few items yesterday and he also wanted to purchase a Turtles toy with his money.  I knew from reading other blogs that Target had started to clearance toys, but I did not think I would catch it this good!!  At Christmas on my side of the family we have a bunch of little kids, so these purchases worked great for all of them.  I called my mom after I got home and starting to sort what I had purchased and had figured I had some extras.  She was excited too to have some great gifts for a low price for Christmas!  Overall, not counting tax and any 10% discount with my Target card, I spent $91.66...yet saved $195.37 or 68%!!  I have Christmas worked out for my cousins kiddos and the few gifts Jakob will need to have to open at my grandparents' homes at Christmas.  So exciting!!!

July 30th: Target

The first thing I did today at Target was take my new prescription to the pharmacy.  Target had a $10.00 gift card with a new prescription or transfer.  I wanted to use my $10.00 gift card in today's transaction, so the first thing we did afterwards was spend some time in the toy section.  We have started giving Jakob allowance and he has been using his money to purchase his toys.  So far, he has done well and today he found a TNMT on clearance for $4.30 after tax (regularly priced $10+).  We checked back on my prescription and they had to change something and she said it would be ready within five more minutes.  So we went to grab what we needed. We were primarily out of fruit and the few other random items you need.  Hopefully this will last us through next week's menu.

July 21st: Target

I meant to post this earlier, but I ran out of time. Jeff really likes the Smart Ones meals and Target has coupons online again. The best thing is you can use a Target store coupon and a manufacturer coupon together to sweeten the deal even more!  His two favorites are Meatloaf and Slow Roasted Turkey Breast.  The Target coupons for them expire on 8/8/09, so we will go back and purchase some more using the great coupons!

Deal Scenario:
Buy 10 Smart Ones at $2.54 each =$25.40
Plus, use the $4/10 Smart Ones coupon here (fill out the form).
MAKE SURE to mark yes on this question, "I'd like to hear about product news and future offers from H.J. Heinz Company, the makers of Weight Watchers Smart Ones. "
Final cost is ONLY $1.14 each!

There are others cheaper, but these are his favorite!

Mailbox Monday

What free items are you getting in your mailbox?  I was shocked to find the entire roll of Scott's Toilet Roll in my mailbox last Monday from a Wal-Mart sample!  It also came with Scott's Natural Moist Wipes along with coupons for both of them.  I thought I had received all of my FREE Mars candy coupons, but I must have miscounted!  I have enjoyed the FREE candy coupons.  I also received the following free magazines: Conde Nast Traveler, Working Mother, and Forbes.  I will take my free magazines to Half-Price books in about a week after glancing through them since they are all August 2009 issues.I am sure glad we have an excellent post office deliverer because our address is too long on these magazines and they still do not have an apartment number.

July 19th: Toys R Us

Jeff has been wanting Guitar Hero or Guitar Hero World Tour for quite some time.  Today, he looked in the ads and found a deal that was too good to pass up!  Toys R Us had a great price on the game and after discussing it, he went early and bought one.  Jeff had $30.01 left on a Visa Gift Card he received from my mom from Christmas.  He was willing to use this toward the purchase bringing our out of pocket lower.  Roland and Jeff played it this afternoon for a few hours and really enjoyed it!  Jakob joined in the fun after his nap and helped Jeff play the drums!

Coordinates Collections July Card Sketch: Happy Birthday

I created this layout for the Coordinates Collections Summer Camp #16.  The challenge was to create a card using Coordinates Collections' July card sketch for 1 point.  I was needing a few more birthday cards.  Since the birthday paper was out, I pieced together 2 cards rather quickly!  I still need to create a few male birthday cards though!

Week Full of Swimming

Earlier in the week, I did my coupon shopping!  I went to Walgreens and spent $3.00 for 3 bottles of Listerine and also received back a $3.00 RR.  My next stop was CVS where I picked up their school supplies on sale.  They had a bunch of items FREE after ECB, so I would purchase about $5.00, receive the ECB, then use the ECB to pay for the next transaction.  Overall, I spent $5.90 at CVS and received $4.98 back in ECB.  After CVS, I decided to do a quick run to Kroger.  I saved $15.57 or 35% at Kroger; not as many coupons for the items we needed.  On Tuesday, Roland, Jakob, and I went to Target.  Cereal was on sale for $1.88 and I had $1.00/1 coupons I needed to use while they were on sale.  Jeff and the boys have Mini-Wheats for a bit and I have lots of Special K to eat!

Swim lessons started last Monday.  Jakob are from 9:30AM-10:00AM and Roland has lessons from 10:10AM-11:00AM.  They are both doing well and have been happy with Jakob.  We had lots of swimming this past week...Sunday through Thursday!  Here are a few pictures from swim lessons.  They did pool rules, safety, and life jackets on Wednesday.

Tuesday afternoon, Jakob's friend Mason came over to our apartment and we went swimming.  They had fun playing in the kid section and the regular pool.  We went to Jack's 1st birthday party (Janet's baby) and Jakob actually started swimming by himself a few feet while we were there.  He would go between using his noodle to using nothing at all!  I was so proud of him since it was the first time on Sunday.  He continue to swim on Tuesday when we went to the regular pool.  He figured out he could stand in the 3 feet section of the pool and was comfortable going back and forth!  I made a video using my phone while we were out playing.

Friday morning, we went to the post office to drop off my latest eBay items that sold.  I posted a bunch of old games and so far they have done well!  Then it was time to get a quick bite to eat and Jakob wanted a cheeseburger!  The Lewisville Police Department was presenting "McGruff the Crime Dog" at the Lewisville Library and I figured I better get some food in Jakob first!  He listened fairly well and I am hoping the picture of him and McGruff will help him remember we actually went.

After the library, I decided I needed to exchange our passes for the FREE tickets for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.  The boys received passes from the library for reading and we received adult tickets for becoming fans of the circus through Facebook.  To exchange the passes for actual tickets, you had to drive out to the box office.  I decided the Fort Worth dates were more convenient and drove out to downtown Fort Worth.  I am really glad Jeff and I invested in the GPS because it sure helps with the metroplex and helped me locate where I needed to get to in Fort Worth.  I found a parking meter and I had luckily 4 quarters which gave me 1 hour and 7 minutes!  It was a pretty good walk from where I found the open meter and the Fort Worth Convention Center box office!  Jakob was wearing his sandles and had a blister bust at McDonalds earlier in the day and did not want to walk!!  So I ended up having to carry him to and from and while watching my watch to make sure we got back in time!  He had also woke up from a short nap in the car and was still tired!  I'm excited about taking Jakob to see the circus.  This is one of the really nice ones and free tickets are great!!

We do not have much planned this weekend to my knowledge.  I think I might try to get a little scrapbooking in and use my new kit I received from Coordinates Collections.  I also figure we will go to the pool either today or tomorrow.  I think a few of Jakob's friends want to come over and try out our pool.  Have a great week and enjoy the pictures!

Target: July 14th

Roland, Jakob, and I went to Target after swim lessons to get a few things.  They had Kellogg's cereal on sale this week for $1.88 and since I had $1.00/1 coupons, I wanted to use them.  The boys all eat the Frosted Mini-Wheats for breakfast and snacks!  Jeff and I actually looked at them last week, but they were almost $3 each!!  I had mentioned it was Saturday and we were unsure of the upcoming ads, and sure enough we got lucky with Kellogg's going on sale!  Maybe it was due to the coupons expriring on the 18th of July...not sure.  We also needed more milk, soy milk, and a few other random items with not as many great coupons.  Overall, saved $17.77 or 33% on the total purchase.

4th of July and tons of swimming

We went to Lake Brownwood on Friday and Saturday (7/3-7/4) and then the boys stayed the week with Lana and Gregg! It was sure a nice week and I enjoyed the time off!

Saturday night, Jeff and I came home and boy were we tired! We had spent Saturday on the lake and did lots of things. One of the cool things I did was get up on the wakeboard this year! I have tried previous years, but always after I was too tired! This year, I did it first and made it up on the first try! I had Roland take some pictures along with what I got on video this year. Later in the same day, I rode on the intertube with Roland and also water skied. I am getting much better on water skiing and can go back and forth. I think I was sore through Monday from all the boating activities!! Roland also water skied this year for the first time by himself with adult skis. Meaning the skis are not tied together to keep them together and the rope is not tied to the skis. He did very well and wanted to get back out Sunday, but they ran out of time.
Saturday evening after we returned home, Jeff and I had dinner at Cozymel's in Grapevine. Dinner sure was good that evening. Service was a little slow, but was a good night for it to be slower since we were not in a rush. It was nice to sit and eat a peaceful dinner with NO kids! lol We watched the fireworks sorta through our apartment window, but were pretty tired. We could have gone to some friends and had a great view, but decided to just relax!

We did some shopping on Sunday and actually went to Stonebriar Mall in Frisco to walk around. We did about 2.3 miles while shopping from one end to the other. It sure was busy on Sunday at that mall with the holiday weekend. (It's the nicer newer mall.)

Jeff took Monday off from work and we went and watched The Proposal. It was a very cute movie. Afterwards, we had lunch at Chipolte and finished up some shopping for Jeff. He needed new shorts for work...I know, can you believe he gets to wear shorts? Pretty neat though! I also had some free time and had my hair redone and re-colored. I had her color it back to my regular color in hopes as it grows out this summer it looks closer to my natural color so it stays looking good for interviews, etc. =) I had really wanted to have it redone before our vacation, but I ran out of time!

We met friends for dinner on Thursday and Friday. Friday evening was funny because it's our group of friends that Jakob plays with all of his friends at the same time. His two friends, Carter and Mason, were there at the house on Friday and told their dad they were on a mission to find Jakob! Shortly later, we did tell them he was not there and they were at grandparents! We had some great ribs with all of our friends Friday and enjoyed the evening at their pool! Sure was a fun weekend.

Today, we went to baby Jack's 1st birthday party. Janet had invited us and originally, I was not sure when the boys would return. However since they came back on Saturday, I figured we could go. It was a birthday pool party and it was fun, but to me I thought there were too many people in the pool. Just not enough room for everyone in the pool. The coolest thing though today was Jakob actually swam today WITHOUT any floating devices!!

Tomorrow, Jakob and Roland start swimming lessons for the summer. Roland will start Level 4 and Jakob is doing Level 1 again. I think this year he will do much better in Level 1. In the swim lessons, they do everything without any floating devices (except when they are introducing life jackets). Last year, he really didn't want his face in the water and was not sure of getting into the deeper end of the pool. So I'm hoping he does better.

The Scrappiest Sketch #20: go speed racer

I created this layout for the Coordinates Collections Summer Camp #9.  The challenge was to create a layout using song lyrics in the title or journaling for 2 points.  These pictures are from a SWA event at Mountasia Family Fun Center last year.  Jakob and Jeff were on the go-karts together at the event in this layout.  The layout is designed using Sketch #20 from The Scrappiest!

CVS: July 6th

I had recently picked up Vitamin C at Target.  However, I noticed they went on sale at CVS so I returned them to Target after picking them up for much less at CVS!  They were out of the tape and the pencils, so I received a rain check.  I figure I will keep an eye on them in the future.  My husband's work is working on donations for school supplies, so the pencils especially would be great donations!  Overall, I spent $1.90 out of pocket, but have no more ECB's.  I saved $32.85 or 95% on today's transactions!

Inspired Blueprints Sketch #25: {hole-n-one}

I created this layout for the Coordinates Collections Summer Camp Challenge #7. The challenge was to create a 2-page layout with masculine colors for 3 points. I used the June 2009 Desert Serenade kit. The layout is designed using Sketch #25 from Inspired Blueprints!

These pictures are from July 23, 2007. Roland was 10 years old and Jakob was 2 years old. I took them to Putt-Putt where we golfed, Roland did the go-karts, and we played video games! The boys loved it and I had coupons!

The Scrappiest Sketch #17: Swim Practice

I created a layout using a sketch from The Scrappiest in June. It was sketch #17 and today I was reading the blogs I follow and learned she created a slide show which included my take on the sketch, too!  Check out the slide show here to see all the other takes on the same sketch and the other sketches in June.

Walgreens: July 2nd

I was going through my coupons and I realized I had a Walgreens $RR for $3.00 expiring on 7/5/09. With the holiday weekend approaching, I was worried I would either forget it or be too tired this weekend to spend it. I checked the ad and found cereal on sale and we have started to run low after my last stock pile. So overall, I spent $0.22 on 3 boxes of cereal!

July 2009

Wow, it is hard to believe the first half of the year is already gone! July tends to be one of the hotter months here in Texas. I am looking forward to spending some time this upcoming weekend at my in-law's place at the lake!

I'd like to look back at the first of the year and find the highlights of the year. These could be stories, photographs, scrapbook layouts, or whatever you find to share. What sticks out of your mind for you when you think about the particular month? Add what you can including whatever you would like to share!

January 2009 - Texas had some crazy weather in the end of January closing the big school districts because of ice and more ice! My scrapbooks did not mind the extra days off!

February 2009 - I created the Coordinates Collections February Challenge: Lovin You. Jeff came up with the 9 reasons why he loved me and it was just so sweet. This seemed so fitting with Valentine's Day!
March 2009 - A friend and I took our kids to the Fort Worth Zoo during Spring Break. It was really busy but we sure had fun!
April 2009 - Southwest Airlines had their 36th and Last Annual Chili Cookoff in April. I remember thinking it was going to be the last one and learned since the chili cookoff was started it always had 'last annual' in the title! When they originally had the first one, the company did not know if they would be around the next year! So the title has stayed the same throughout the years. Southwest also just celebrated its 38th birthday in June.
May 2009 - Starting in May, Jeff and I started riding our bikes and walking more. We have started eating healthier and getting much more active! I created the layout {Out-side} to represent our changes!

June 2009 - My mom and I took the kids to California to visit Disneyland along with Disneyland California Adventures (pictures), San Diego Zoo (pictures), and visit with my brother.

Life passes by too quickly, make sure you enjoy those moments!
