2009

We went to Party City to purchase some basic party supplies to celebrate the New Year.  We purchased party hats, balloons, noise makers, streamers, bingo cards, and a few other supplies.  The boys enjoyed the evening and watching the ball drop on television.

Journaling: We brought in the new year at our apartment in Lewisville, TX.  Roland - 13, Jakob - 3.

Inspiration from the June 21st Sketch from Sassy Lil' Sketches.

Jump

November 2009, Jeff and I invested in a newer camera.  We bought it on Black Friday and these pictures are some of the first I took to test it out after it had been charged!  We were in Abilene, TX, visiting with Jeff's parents for Thanksgiving.  Roland and Jakob were out back with Lana jumping on the trampoline.  I remember being excited to take pictures where Roland was in mid-air and not have it blurry!  Roland was almost 13 in these pictures and Jakob was 4 on 11/27/2009.  Inspiration for the layout is from Sketchy Thursdays 6.9 Sketch.  As noticed from my layout, I rotated the sketch to make it work for my horizontal pictures.

Happy!

This picture is so fun to me because Jakob was so excited and loved riding on the big white bus from Children's Courtyard when he was 4 years old.

Journaling: Beginning on 8/24/09, Jakob attended Lillie J. Jackson Monday-Thursday for speech.  His teacher's name was Mrs. Smith.  He absolutely loved going each day!  Jakob talked about how he went to 3 schools!  I dropped him off at the school aged building where he was bussed to/from.  Funniest part was he called it the "white" school because the outside of the school was white!  He went tot he school until we moved to our new house on 12/7/09.

Inspiration for the sketch is from Liz at The Scrappiest Sketch #123.

Sketchy Thursday 6.2 Winner!

This morning, I logged onto Sketchy Thursdays to see the new sketch for the week and as I scrolled down, I found out that I was the winner for last week's sketch!  I was totally shocked and super excited!  Sometime in June, I will receive The Sampler June Kit from Scrapbooking Supplies R Us!  It will be fun to see what I can make using the kit and then I will post it on the blog!  Check out my original post here.

Papa and me

This is a picture of my dad and Jakob at Christmas.  It amazes me this is from 2009 and Jakob was not even fives year old yet (he's now almost 6 1/2)!  My mom and I got them to sit still long enough to take this picture together!  Inspiration is from Sketchy Thursday's 6.2 Sketch.

More Christmas 2009 Scrapbook Layouts

Here's another Christmas layout for 2009.  We were opening presents in Killeen with my side of the family.  Inspiration for the layout is from Sketchy Thursday 5-5.  I'm hoping to finish a few more layouts this weekend to finish up my Christmas scrapbooking layouts for 2009.

Christmas Scrapbook Layouts

The last time I was able to scrapbook was during February during our snow week!  We are down to five more weeks of school and things are starting to slow a little.  I had been wanting to scrap a little and was able to get a few things accomplished.

The pictures are from Christmas in Abilene, TX with Jeff's parents.  Their tree is always so pretty and it spins on a base!  Jakob had gotten too big for his other bike and received a bike for Christmas from Lana and Gregg.  Here is a layout I created using paper from a Coordinates Collections kit and it was inspired using Sketchy Thursday's 4/28 sketch.

We moved into our new home on Wednesday, December 7, 2009.  It was an extremely busy time period with unpacking and buying presents.  The boys were pleasantly surprised with their Christmas gifts.  This layout was inspired using Liz's sketch #117 over at The Scrappiest and paper from a Coordinates Collections kit.

Scrapbooking on Snow Days

We have had an interesting week with the weather.  We received an ice/sleet/snow mix Monday night/early Tuesday morning (2/1/11.)  School was canceled ahead of time Monday night due to the forecast.  High temperatures were set for low 20s and wind chill factors in the single digits and teens!  The temperature has stayed in the low 20s and the ice is not melting!  My school district was closed on Tuesday through Friday due to the weather.  We received about six inches of snow on Friday to add to the previous ice/snow already on the ground!  While at home on our snow week, I pulled out my scrapbook paper and supplies and made some layouts!

Winter Season (The Scrappiest) - Inspiration from The Scrappiest Sketch #105.
Journaling: 2/12/10.

Family (Design Dollies) - Inspiration from Design Dollies.
Journaling: Lisa, Mom, Mema, Laurie, Jennifer. 12/25/09.

Boys (Scrap A Little-Sketches) - Inspiration from Scrap A Little-Sketches #42
Journaling: Roland and Jakob 11/25/09.  Roland 13, Jakob 4.

Gifts (Sketchy Thursdays) - Inspiration from Sketchy Thursdays 2.03 Sketch.
Journaling: We opened presents on 12/28/09 after Roland came over to our home.  The family received an XBOX 360 along with other goodies in 2009.

Merry Christmas

Well, this week over at Scrap it With a Song, we are doing something different.  Since we know everyone is busy with the holidays, we are each sharing with you a holiday layout and possibly a tutorial on our different blogs throughout the week!

I am constantly working on the previous year when I work on completing my layouts.  Here is a Christmas layout from our trip to Ireland, TX every year on Christmas Day.  Later in the day, we all go behind the fence and take a picture.  The women usually take their picture first and then the men.  It is neat to look back at how everyone changes from year to year.

I used my Cricut machine with the layout.  I used Beyond Birthdays to cut Merry Christmas and Doodlecharms to cut the Christmas tags to write everyone's name inside.  This layout and pictures are neat to me because we do this picture every Christmas.  The journaling states, "Every Christmas in Ireland, TX, we take a picture behind the fence.  The women tend to always go first, and then the men. It is fun to look at the pictures each year as well as the years past. 12/25/09."

dad's LOVE

This week's song challenge over at Scrap It With a Song is "Just the Two of Us" by Will Smith.  The lyrics are up on the blog. You can take whatever inspires you from this song, the words, the title or the overall theme of the song. Upload your creations onto the Scrap It With A Song blog by Sunday and you could be this week's winner.

This picture is from Jakob's first season of playing Blast Ball in Lewisville.  They needed a coach and Jeff volunteered.   We have some really cute pictures of Jakob and the other boys who played that season.  While listening to the song challenge this week, the message that came across was the powerful love from a dad and thought perfect!

My inspiration for this layout comes from Creative Scrappers sketch #131.

Lucky...

This week's song challenge over at Scrap It With a Song is "Lucky" by Pat Boone.  The lyrics are up on the blog. You can take whatever inspires you from this song, the words, the title or the overall theme of the song. Upload your creations onto the Scrap It With A Song blog by Sunday and you could be this week's winner.

Jakob's 4th birthday party was at Going Bonkers with his friends. Jakob had such a great time with his friends and playing.  One of the neatest things at Jakob's 3rd and 4th birthday party was getting all of the kids together for a group picture.  Out of all of the pictures, these are always my favorite!

My inspiration for this layout comes from The Scrappiest Sketch #88 and paper from Coordinates Collections.

Scrapbook Goal - Need 8 More Layouts!!

At the beginning of 2010, I set my scrapbook goal of 50 layouts.  I have made 42 layouts so far this year and only need 8 more to reach my goal!!  I have finished most of the 2008 photos, only a few remaining pictures that I cannot decide how I want to scrap.  I have been able to focus most of my attention to scrapping the 2009 photos and they are slowly getting scrapped and put away!

Coordinates Collections Fab Find!

I found out this morning, one of my layouts was selected as a Fab Find at Coordinates Collections!  This layout is from Jakob's 3rd birthday.  I had a few pictures remaining from Jakob's 3rd birthday party I wanted to scrapbook.  I wanted to capture a few of him opening his presents.  The top right photo shows a small yukalaylee that he received from my brother.  Randy was stationed in Hawaii when he visited for Jakob's 3rd birthday and he brought this for him.  It's really neat and it has Hawaii on it too.  This layout was created for Scrap it With a Song's challenge.

Winter Wonderland

This week's song challenge over at Scrap It With a Song is "Winter Wonderland" by Pat Boone.  The lyrics are up on the blog. You can take whatever inspires you from this song, the words, the title or the overall theme of the song. Upload your creations onto the Scrap It With A Song blog by Sunday and you could be this week's winner.  This week is sponsored by The Stamping BoutiqueI used the Candy Land Winter Tag in my layout above from The Stamping Boutique.

We hit a record breaking snow fall in one day in the North Texas area! The official report was 11.2 inches at midnight and the previous snowfall in one day was 32 years ago with 7.8 inches in one day! However, according to the news, the snow continued to fall and at 4AM, there was 12.5 inches of snow on the ground! It sure has been fun to play in the snow!!  We built a snowman, Jakob made a few snow angels, and threw snow at each other!  I never expected to get this much snow in Texas, and it sure has been fun.  It will be slowly melting today since the temperature is above freezing.

My inspiration for this layout comes from Sketchy Thursdays 11.4 sketch and paper from Coordinates Collections.

Jakob and I went to the Fort Worth Zoo in March 2009 with Roland and friends.  I was actually able to get some cute pictures of the two of us together!  He was still terrified of carousels last year, hints the facial expression!

The paper for this layout is from Coordinates Collections and my inspiration for the layout design is from The Scrappiest Sketch #89.

This is such a great song and many ways to use it for a layout.

This is a picture from last years Halloween.  It was so much fun to get together with friends and eat hamburgers/hot dogs before going out to trick or treat.  The kids together had a blast together.  We came back from trick or treating to continue with bobbing for apples and smashing a pinata.  It was a pretty tough pinata as the parents had to help get it started!  Jeff and I were saving for our new home, so we dressed using things at the house.  I'm supposed to be an 80s girl.  My hair was super curly with tons of hair spray, my shirt was tied, and my pants were rolled!  It was a fun evening to remember.

I used paper from Coordinates Collections to create the layout.

Boo

My goal this year was to create 50 scrapbook layouts.  I'm doing pretty good with 36 layouts completed so far.  The layout above is from last year's Halloween.  Jakob enjoyed his costume last year and went with Jeff to Southwest Airlines for their Halloween event.  The boys both carved pumpkins after visiting the Pumpkin Patch.

The layout was created using paper from Coordinates Collections.

At Christmas, we take pictures of my parents and grandparents.  This last Christmas, we were able to get Jakob to sit for a moment with both grandparents and his great-grandparents!  It's so cuteI used a kit from Coordinates Collections to create the layout.  I was really enjoying the bright paper colors and how I didn't use reds and greens for a normal December scrapbook page.

My Guy

This week's song challenge over at Scrap It With a Song is My Guy by The Supremes.  The lyrics are up on the blog. You can take whatever inspires you from this song, the words, the title or the overall theme of the song. The picture of Jeff and I was taken at my grandparents house in Austin.  It was the day before Christmas and we have been taking them yearly.  We were married on October 19, 2002, so this picture marks seven years married.

I used paper from Coordinates Collections and Scrap A-Little Sketches #22 for my inspiration.
