Moving 11/17

Well, we will start moving tomorrow and hopefully get a lot done on Friday and finish up on Saturday! We are moving into the Broadstone apartment complex in Lewisville. It's a really nice complex and with building recently completed in April 2006. It will help with our drive time and other expenses and we'll be there short term until we decide where we want to live long term between teaching and Jeff's work.

Contract on House!

This past Monday, around 7:30pm, Melody called us with an offer on the house. After a few negotiations, the contract was official Wednesday, October 25th. I met the people buying our house today and they seem really nice. They signed their portion and then I took the contract to Grapevine and Jeff and I signed our portion. It is now back to our realtors. Early next week, the inspection should be completed. The current closing date on the contract is on December 1st. I would prefer to have it end of November to save some and help us have more money to put down on an apartment. Jeff and I are planning to look at apartments in Lewisville this weekend! Depending how quickly everything goes through, we could be moving really soon!

Oh, and as a tidbit, our house was placed on market 9/14/06 and official contract was on 10/25/06.

Open House

Today turned out to be a great day. We had a showing at 11am and then the open house started at noon. Between 12-4pm, there were 4 more sets of people who came by and she said based on who she spoke too, 2 of the 4 seemed really interested. I know the people may not choose our house, but I was really excited that we had as many people as we did. That was great!

Remax.com

Our house is now officially posted online for the general public to see! I was so excited! I looked at 7am this morning and it was not there and I sent an email to our realtor, Melody. Sometime between 7 and 1o am, it was placed on the website! YEAH!!

GO CHECK IT OUT!

We have an Open House planned tomorrow. Melody said they are bringing an 8-foot remax balloon that says Remax/Open House. The open house is from 11-4pm tomorrow and it seems like it should go good.

Jeff and I are planning on taking Roland and Jakob to the Fort Worth Zoo for the day since we can't be home while they are doing the open house.

For Sale Sign

We are now official with our sign and all! Our house is now listed with MLS but the online websites will not update and show it until tomorrow morning. However, other real estate agents can already see the house. The picture used is the one below in a previous post without the car. I wanted to take this picture that had the sign, since I know I'll put it in the scrapbook.

House on the market

As of Thursday, September 14th, our house will be on the market. This past weekend we finished installing the new french doors and stained the deck. Since we replaced the controls in the shower, we redid the wall in the bathroom. The house looks really good and we are excited about getting it on the market!

Selling the house

Well, Jeff and I have decided to put our house on the market. We were planning to stay here for two more years, but some of the extra expenses of owning a home are not cost effective for the fact of only staying here two more years. Some of the added maintence depending on what must be fixed or replaced will eat into the equity we have in it.

So for the time frame, we are probably about 2-4 weeks before putting the house on the market! Sorta exciting at the same time. Will be interesting with school as it was not something planned, but a agreed upon between Jeff and I between a few of the latest things breaking. The house was built in 1985 and it is only getting older. And again, most maintence is minimal, but the return on the investment is not high enough with the idea of moving in two. I commented to Jeff that if we would be here for the next ten years, it would be another story and he agreed.

So we have looked into apartments and it looks like we will either live at Madison at Round Grove or Rockbrook Creek apartments over in Lewisville off of 3040. I lived at the Madison apartments back in 2000 and really liked them and the management. Our house is 1260 sq. feet and we are looking at a 2 bedroom/2 bath at the Madison at 1228 sq. feet. The positive thing with this apt is Jakob and Roland's room is actually above the attached garage so if they jump or just them being boys, it will not affect the below residents! Rockbrook Creek had an apt at 1320 sq. feet with a detached garage, but I like the idea of being able to move everything into the garage with the move and then we can work through the boxes without having the mess in the apt as we do it. But with the two that we really like, if one apt is not available, we have a backup place.

We looked at apts out in Roanoke since it is close to 35W and would give the same distance to Denton as Lewisiville is to Denton, but there were not many apts out there yet and with no competition, it made the apts almost a $1/sq. foot which is expensive!

The other factor with deciding on a location was if they allowed large dogs. Both of these allow Tito to live with us which we wouldn't have any other way. We have to look for homes for the cats. They love it outdoors, so they are not too hard to take care of. Amy, my neighbor may take them...but I don't know yet. Lana and Greg, Jeff's parents, might be able to take them too. We are still hoping to buy a house in Keller after I start teaching but we'll play it by ear.

Jeff and I believe everything happens for a reason, so we'll get to that point when the times right!
