We're Having a Girl!!

I am now 21 weeks and 3 days.  Jeff and I had our sonogram yesterday and found out we are having a GIRL!  When the doctor stated we were having a girl, I actually joked about me wanting a girl and Jeff wanting a boy.  I asked if he was sure and he said he hasn't been wrong after the baby is over 14 weeks.  When we arrived home, I watched the dvd that we purchased of the sonogram and I could tell it was a girl based on one of many positions he captured.

Kindergarten Stories: Week of Mar. 7th - Mar. 11th

Jakob had open house last Thursday and he enjoyed showing everything to us at his school. We visited his classroom first, then he took us to see PE, Art, Music, and the Library.  It sure is hard to believe we are almost finished with the fifth sixth weeks and before you know it he will be finished with Kindergarten!

Here are two papers I liked most that Jakob brought home last week.  The first one is many of Jakob's sight words using many different color crayons.  I'm assuming it was a station where they were writing "Rainbow Sight Words".  I'm really impressed with his handwriting and how neat it is!  The other one is a math worksheet working on subtracting.  I liked how bright and colorful he made this page after he finished the math portion.

Menu Planning 3/13-3/19

It has been a while since I have worked on planning a menu.  Part of that reason is due to being pregnant, but most of the morning sickness is over and am not as sick as I was in the beginning of the pregnancy.  I'm currently almost 21 weeks and able to eat majority of all foods again!

I'm still using E-Mealz to help plan my menus.  The ideas from them really help.  I have also learned to not let my subscription renew automatically.  Once your subscription is started, cancel it so it will not automatically renew.  If you do this, you can use a coupon code (Dave is a current one) and save an additional $2.50 off of every three month period!

I am also working on getting back into my coupons.  However, instead of getting the newspaper, I am getting majority of the coupons from Coupons and Things by Dede.  The service allows me to pick and choose the coupons I want and a larger quantity of some of the coupons.

Dinner plans this week:
Ham, baked potatoes, green beans
Spaghetti w/Meat Sauce, Garlic Bread
BBQ Chicken, rice, corn
A-1 Pork Chops, mashed potatoes, peas

Kindergarten Stories: Week of Feb. 28th - Mar. 4

Jakob is continuing to do well in school and brought home these papers recently.  They are working on learning how to count to 100 as seen with the cheerios board below.  He continues to enjoy reading and writing and I am still impressed with his handwriting.  Recently, I sent his teacher an email mentioning we were working on Reading A-Z: Level C books at home and apologized for not signing his reading log regularly.  She said she sent him with a Level C during guided reading and also mentioned when he is focused, boy he is focused!

Sierra - Chasing the Light of a Flashlight

A few weeks ago, we rescued a yellow lab.  We named her Sierra and she is estimated to be somewhere between 2-3 years old.  On one of the first nights we got her, Jakob was outside and he came in and said he needed a flashlight!  All of a sudden I heard Sierra barking and went outside to find out why.  It turns out, Sierra was barking at the light and trying to chase the light from the flashlight!!

Tonight, Jakob was playing hide and go seek and I heard Sierra bark while in his room.  Jakob had turned his light off and had his flashlight.  Sierra was trying to get the light!

Here's a short (23 seconds) video of Sierra and Jakob playing with the flashlight!  Jakob loved doing it just as much as Sierra likes trying to catch the light!
