my bff erica! - Feb 2009: Challenge #5: Love that Embelli! (Feb 2008 Groovy

I used the Coordinates Collections' February 2008 "Groovy Chick" kit to create this layout. The yellow and red flowers and buttons were from my stash. The thickers (felt stickers) are from a previous kit and are made from American Crafts. This challenge was to use my favorite embellishments. I absolutely love using flowers with buttons in their center! I love how they accent and brighten any layout. This kit is so bright and cheerful, I absolutely love it!

A Good Read - Feb 2009: Challenge #3: Show the Love

I used the Coordinates Collections' February 2008 "Groovy Chick" kit to create this layout. The yellow flowers and buttons were from my stash.

The challenge was to find a layout in the gallery and scraplift it. The layout I chose to scraplift can be found here:

I chose the layout because it used multiple patterned pages, buttons, and flowers. I love using these in my layouts and the combination of pictures made it simple and fun to me!

90th Birthday - February 2009 2-Page Sketch

I created this layout using the Coordinates Collections' February 2-page sketch. Primarily, I made it from the April 2007 "Take Note" kit. The chipboard is from the Coordinates Collections' store and the stickers are from previous kits. Here is my take on the sketch:

Journaling: We celebrated Papa's 90th birthday on 11/22/08. His actual birthday was that following Friday, 11/28/08. He was really surprised because we only told them we were coming to celebrate an early Thanksgiving!

New Blog: Project 365 - A Picture a Day

Since I have decided to take on the challenge of Project 365, I wanted to have a better method of posting the pictures. I created a new blog called Project 365 - A Picture a Day at http://scrappergirlproject365.blogspot.com/

The link will also be located in the side bar under My Blog List. Maybe next year, I'll be able to get one of the Project 365 Scrapbook Kits from Creating Keepsakes. Since I'm not starting on Day 1, I think I'll just post them to my blog. Enjoy!

Love - Feb. Challenge #2: Lovin You

I used the Coordinates Collections' February "Sweetie" kit to create this layout for the February Challenge #2: Lovin You. I discovered a new website called, PageMaps where they have monthly sketches.

The rules to the challenge were:
  • Create a single page layout
  • Include a top 9 list on the layout which was written by your person of choice
  • Include a picture of you and this person, which will be the ONLY picture on the layout
Here is my take on the sketch including a closeup of his reasons (click on the picture to make it bigger!):

Jeff and I were all dressed up for the Southwest Airlines Technology Christmas Party on 12/6/08. Mom came to babysit so Jeff and I could enjoy the evening.

For the challenge, he came up with the following 9 reasons why he loves me! So sweet!

Project 365 - A Picture a Day

Between reading my scrapbook forums and blogs, the recent talk is "Project 365". The goal is to take a picture a day! Creating Keepsakes created a special scrapbook designed to actually scrap the entire project. It was so popular they could not keep up with the demand. The idea seems interesting and a pretty neat challenge. I have not decided how I will put it all together. I'm reading Becky's Blog (http://www.beckyhiggins.com/blog/) for picture ideas and inspirations.

Jakob was watching tv in our bedroom tonight. All of a sudden, I looked back and he was completely asleep! He was so exhausted and I have not seen him crash like that for a long time!

Jeff & Joe - January 2009 Tango Kit

I used the Coordinates Collections January 2009 "Tango" kit to create this layout. I used the general concept of a sketch from the Memory Makers March/April 2009 magazine issue to create the layout. Joe was able to visit from New Mexico on May 10, 2008.

Just the Two of Us - January 2009 Tango Kit

This is a quick layout with Roland and Jakob. I used Coordinates Collections' January 2009 Tango kit plus a few things from the stash of supplies to create the layout. July 25, 2008, we went to Killeen to visit with family and see Erica while she was in town visiting her grandparents. This picture is in front of her grandparents' house in Harker Heights. Jakob also knew we were visiting his grandparents during this trip. I won't forget what he said when we pulled up to their house, "This is not Mimi and Papa's house!" We visited the new Super Target and bought a few more Transformers to add to the collection while we visited. Roland was 11 and Jakob was 3 in the pictures.

Friendship - February Single Page Sketch

I used Coordinates Collections January 2009 "Tango" kit to create the layout along with the February single page sketch. I LOVE the colors from that kit! This picture is of Erica and me. Erica is on the right. She flew in from Colorado for Jakob's 4th birthday. Erica and I have known each other since Kindergarten, or about 23 years! Her birthday is today, so Happy Birthday Erica!

Happy Anniversary Card - February Card Sketch

I think this paper is from Coordinates Collections' September 2008 "Johnny Appleseed" kit or an add-on...I originally thought it was part of my November 2008 "What a Hoot" kit, but now I'm just not sure! =)

However, this Happy Anniversary card is for my grandparents 59th wedding anniversary. The felt flowers, ribbons, and black letters were from my stash.
The card design is from their February card sketch.

January Monthly Kit Contest Winner.....

In January, I realized I needed to start reading Coordinates Collections' Message Board more frequently. I started looking into the different challenges and realized I could do some of them for January even with my hectic schedule. Each month, they post random types of challenges. Some challenges focus directly on scrapping, while others focus on checking out the gallery. Out of those different challenges, I completed the January #1 and #2 challenge. Each month, they also create 3 different sketches focusing on a 1-page layout, a 2-page layout, and a card sketch. I also created two cards: Thank You and Happy Birthday using the January card sketch.

Every month with Coordinates Collections, you pre-order the next month's kit and then it is shipped during the actual kit month. Sometimes I do not use a kit until later depending on what I am trying to scrap. Another nice challenge is whenever you create anything using any kit, you can post it in the gallery and get entered into a drawing for the month. For every layout you create, you get a ticket for the drawing. Between having a little extra time and incentives, I actually won the January Monthly Kit Contest! I was so excited as I read through to find out all the different winners for January! I am looking forward to the future challenges and doing even more with them!
