Biology class finished with an "A"
Well, I finished my Biology class tonight with an "A". By finishing the class early, I received 75 extra credit points. I had enough points for an "A" without the extra credit points, which makes me feel good about the class even more, but extra credit points are always worth the time! Now I can focus on my Growth and Development class and get that out of the way!

College and upcoming painting!
Nothing much happened last week for me. My classes are doing good so far. I'm almost finished with my Biology class. I have 3 more official quizzes to take. I took one about an hour ago, and didn't score as high as I would have liked. You get 2 chances at the quiz and the 2nd test stands. I plan on rereading a few sections of the chapter and retaking it tomorrow. My other goal is to finish my research paper this week before going on our 4th of July weekend. We are planning to go to Lake Brownwood with Jeff's parents. I'm quite excited because I can ski again (Last year, I was pregnant with Jakob)! I need to pick up a floater thing for Jakob sometime this week before we go. I figured I would take a break from Biology and look at my Growth Development class. Have 2 chapters to read and then a bunch of assignments due by July 14th. I am excited about finishing this semester. The Biology class started in May, and then they both officially end at the end of July.
Jeff and I went to Home Depot on Saturday, and I picked out an idea/theme for Jakob's room (and even got some ideas for Roland's too!). For Jakob's room, I think I'd like to paint the bottom 1/3 of it a tanish color, and then the top 2/3 a light blue (sky) color. From there, I want a divider thing on the wall painted a darker tan. Then in long term, around the trim (probably slightly above), a painted vine or something. We looked at Hobby Lobby yesterday and I found some cute things. I probably won't get to the stenciling for quite some time. With school, I have decided I cannot paint until August. Possibly early mornings and evenings. The room is really small and most of the work would be in the prepping stage. One of his walls is practically the closet. Hmm, thinking about the closet, I don't know the color of that yet. I'll probably end up sketching out some ideas. His room already has 6 framed baby animals hanging in the room and I found more bigger animal pictures that I could frame for the other walls long term. The great thing is I checked my supplies in the garage, and we still have a decent amount of the things needed...paintbrushes, rollers, drop cloths, putty for nail holes, liquid sander, etc. So to get the room going, it'll only really cost the price of paint, which is about $20-25 per gallon. I'm so excited to get started!!

Jakob goes swimming!

Jakob has been swimming the past couple days with his neighbor, Sarah. Today, I put on my bathing suit and hopped in with him! It's much easier to sit in the pool than lean over to hold him in the pool! He was quite happy once in the water once he warmed up to it. I'm sure his initial thoughts were, "Mom, this bath is really cold!" =)
Erica's Graduation
Well, my friend, Erica, called me a little bit ago and said she will graduating next May with her Bachelor's in Education. She's so excited, and told me I had to come! It's my turn to visit her anyways! We went to Colorado Springs, CO in 2003 and she came to Dallas in 2004 after Jakob was born. Hopefully by next year, we can take time off and Jeff, Roland, Jakob, and I can drive up there. I have some time to plan the trip. =)

Jakob's bedroom
Well, I really would like to paint Jakob's room and I think I have come up with somewhat of a theme. Currently, his room has baby animals (giraffes, elephants, zebras, etc) framed on the wall and his bedding has baby animals. I think we'll go with a safari theme. I haven't looked yet, and I probably won't have enough money or time until August...but getting the theme figured out is a good start!

Adventures of the week
Last week seemed to go fast, but we didn't have as many activities as usual. On Tuesday, my two neices came over to play with Roland while his mom was at work. They all had a fun time and I had them make sugar cookies and ice them with sugar. They thought it was fun and they got to take their edible craft home with them. (No I didn't load them up on sugar before they left!) Wednesday, was one of my normal days when I watch Ben and Sarah. That morning was the usual, walk to the school to take Sarah to summer school, then walk and pick her up. Then right before 2pm, we walk to the library for the summer reading club program they have for kids. They seem like the like the program, and I'm sure they enjoy getting out of the house. It was awfully hot on Wednesday, but there are only 2 more sessions of the program for this summer. When Jakob gets older, I will enroll him in their Toddler Time. It's in the mornings and they read to the kids and it is free too. I think they have to be 2 for that. Thursday, Sarah woke up with a really bad crich in her neck. Amy (her mom) took her to the doctor and found out it was only a crich, but the poor thing was still hurting today (Friday). I sure hope she starts feeling better. Roland, Jakob, and I went to Target and Best Buy this afternoon to get Jeff his father's day gifts. We bought him a shirt that said, "I'm right, your wrong. Any Questions?" with the picture of Grumpy of the Seven Dwarves on it. It was cute, and he smiled big when we showed it to him. We also ran into Best Buy to pick up the Season 2 of Smallville. He really likes the season and went through Season 1 in a weekend! (He watched a bunch that weekend!)
I started my new class and it's going good. It is slightly different currently than Biology. More analytical in certain things, but I will feel better after I know what I got on something I have already submitted. I also tend to worry, when I probably shouldn't. I'm in a great mood right now though because I took Quiz 6 in Biology and made a 90%! It's my highest grade for a test in the class. 2 people have finished the class early today and will get 100 extra points on their grade. At the rate I'm going on quizzes and labs, I currently have a high A without extra credit. However, I'm going to finish Labs 9 and 10 over the weekend plus another quiz to get me ahead so I can focus on the new Child Development class. It would be nice to finish Biology in a couple weeks. Think I might try for that...I have to finish my science experiment, but I could finish early if I try. I'm excited about August! I will have a break from studying stuff! I would like to paint Jakob's room, but I don't know what colors and I would HAVE to do it in August or wait until next year when I don't have school.
Jakob started eating food as I have mentioned. So far he does like the green beans, but seems to enjoy everything else he has tried. He likes rice cearel, carrots, sweet potatoes, peaches, and apple sauce. While at Target today, I picked up some 2nd foods and got some meats and other things we saw that we thought he'd eat.
Oh, and Jakob got some of those swimming diapers and is now wearing more clothes that are in 6-9 months! He's getting so big.

Update on home and school
Well, it was a busy week last week. I have been watching my neighbor kids for two days a week for some extra cash which has turned out to be really nice. We went to the Dallas Zoo on Thursday with Roland and Sarah. Jakob slept during the entire thing. He probably figured it was too hot to look at anything! On Wednesday, we went to the library for our weekly book club for the kids. They are seeming to enjoy it.
My mom came up last Tuesday to help take us to Jakob's doctor appointment. He is doing good and he started eating solids last week. He likes his rice cereal and carrots and sweet potatoes. He tried green beans last night, and he wasn't as sure about that. It was coming right back out of his mouth. Jeff said to put it farther back in his mouth, and I told him, it won't help, he's pushing it out with his tounge. He was not swallowing green beans last night! It was quite funny. We went to Babies R Us yesterday and bought him a high chair. It leans back a little being he cannot sit up on his own yet. He seemed to like the chair though. I'm going to try green beans again today and see how it goes. He wouldn't even tough the rice cereal that had a slight bit of green beans. I had to make more cereal PLAIN and I switched spoons, and THEN he ate the cereal. Funny.
I registered for a new class last week. It is called Growth Development and it's a class toward my teaching degree. I have 2 classes I am currently taking over the summer and then 3 classes in the fall. I should be able to graduate with my associates in December and then transfer to University of North Texas in the Spring of 2006. I'm excited. I'm hoping to finish my Biology class early and get extra credit and then only have the 1 class again to focus on. I needed to register for this class because I needed 2 elective classes to get my Associates in the Fall.
